Canada / Ontario divorce records.
« on: Tuesday 28 November 17 16:39 GMT (UK)  »
I started this thread on the USA site (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=783186).

I am looking for the divorce of John Edwin Bach from his first wife Elizabeth P Thompson.   They were married in Cook County, Ill. USA on 07.08.1931.   John was born in NY 1902 and Elizabeth was born in Albion, Nebraska 1903.

I believe John and Elizabeth moved to Ontario Canada (probably Toronto) in 1934 or 1935.   In Sept. 1940 there was a report in a Hastings NY paper saying that John was a flying officer in the RCAF stationed at Trenton, Ontario.

In 1948 John married his second wife in Berkshire, England. where they subsequently lived.   So the divorce must have been sometime between the late 1930's and 1948.   I suspect that John was with the RCAF in England at some point and that was when he met his second wife Kitty (Kathleen) Dyke.

Any help tracing this divorce would be very welcome.

I'm looking for a divorce record for John Edwin Bach from his first wife Elizabeth P Thompson.   They were married in Cook County, Ill. 07.08.1931, but he married his second wife in England in June 1948.   So the divorce must have been between those two dates.   I believe they lived in the NY area.  Can anyone help please?  Joan

Europe / Trying to trace the Dyke family from Prussia.
« on: Thursday 20 April 17 13:22 BST (UK)  »
I have Harry William Dyke b1838 Prussia (I believe in Stetten, which I am told is now in Poland).   He was a master mariner and was lost at sea in 1900/1901.

He married Elizabeth Cosgrove in Liverpool, England 21 February 1864.   On their marriage record it states that his father was William Dyke, a teacher.

Can anyone help with tracing this family please?

Cheshire / Trying to find death of John Dyke.
« on: Tuesday 21 March 17 10:11 GMT (UK)  »
I can't find the death of John Dyke, altho' I believe it was around 1939.
bc1865 he was baptised 29.01.1865 in Liverpool to parents Harry William Dyke and Elizabeth Cosgrove.
1898 m Mary Harriet (May) Harries (1874-1970) in Birkenhead.   They had two daughters: Kathleen (Kitty) Mary 1899-1982, and Elizabeth Olga 1901-1979.
I have the family in Liscard, Cheshire on the 1901 census, but can find no mention of them on the 1911 census.   I believe the family remained in Cheshire.
The last record I have of John Dyke was a trip to the US in 1911.   He was a cotton merchant.
Can anyone help please?

Berkshire / Trying to trace Daniel Love, Chieveley, died about 1870.
« on: Wednesday 09 March 16 15:27 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to find details of Daniel Love who owned New Farm Chieveley at his death abt 1870.

I have a valuation of his house and farm carried out by Wm Simmons & Sons, Henley on Thames on 29th September 1870, on behalf of his executors: John Henry George Love (who I am also unable to trace), Barnard Body Deane and Richard Wernham.

My 2x g grandmother was a Sarah Love 1804-? who was married to George Deane 1806-1873 (Barnard Body Deane's parents).   They are also proving to be elusive.   My great grandmother was Elizabeth Wernham (nee Deane), Barnard Body Dean's sister.

Can anyone help please?

He is on the 1901 UK Census and he was already in Canada when his father William Harries died visiting him in Canada in 1906.   I can't find any record of the emigration date.

Australia / Help with George Warwick Maishman Hamlin please.
« on: Thursday 12 March 15 16:45 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help me with information about George Warwick Maishman Hamlin born 1904 in Norwood, Southern Australia please?

His father was George Quiddington Hamlin, birth registered London England 1873, but was baptised 3 April 1870 ::)   His mother was Dora Maishman born about 1875.   I haven't been able to find a record of their marriage.

George Warwick Hamlin was staying with his grandparents in Lambeth, London, England on the 1911 census, but from 1925-1943 he appears in Australia as a farm hand in Katanning, Forrest, Western Australia.   In 1949 he is in Stratford, Gippsland, Victoria RAAF Station, East Sale - RAAF.   The last I can find of him is 1954 in Wagga Wagga, Farrer, NSW - RAAF Technical College, Airman.

Can anyone please fill in the blanks for me and also tell me when his parents went to Australia and did they stay there ???

Canada / Help with finding John Jerrett bc1890,d1966 (Toronto?).
« on: Thursday 15 January 15 14:57 GMT (UK)  »
Please can anyone help me to find information on John Jerrett d1966, who was possibly born about 1890?

He was married to Alice dc1967 and they had a trucking business up until around 1939, when they sold it and their home to help their son Jack with his funeral business (Jerrett Funeral Homes) in Toronto.   Jack b1916-d1967.

I am wondering if John's family came from Newfoundland, where there were many Jerretts descended from the Jerretts in Devon and later Liverpool, England.
