The Common Room / Re: Looking for Relatives
« on: Sunday 06 July 08 20:19 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
Have you tried looking up death records for the other six children and contacting the informants of these. It may cost for the certificates, but I was able to find a number of living relatives this way.

Lancashire / Re: Help Please - with attached census
« on: Thursday 03 July 08 05:39 BST (UK)  »
Hello
in the 1881 census RG 11/3615
William Gold victualler age 37 born Westmorland Kendal is a widower. living at 36 Wapping Liverpool St Thomas Parish
with a housekeeper Ann Compton and her son, Albert 7 and daughter Maud 1 as well as  servants John Kelly and Emma Rowe.
Since he is a widower, Isabella would not be on the census. The 1871 Census also shows daughter Lucy Gold on the following page, born Liverpool 1870. In the 1881 census there is an 18 yr old Robert born liverpool and an 11 yr old Lucy born Liverpool living with a John Gold, tailor age 42 and his wife margaret age 40 at 49 Bridport st. Liverpool. RG11 3628. perhaps there is some connection.

Hello,
I have seen an article by Ivor Grey,  "Is your name Nixon" in the "Bewcastle Journal" Vol 2 Dec 1994  which mentions a gravestone in the Bewcastle Churchyard.
"In the Bewcastle churchyard on the north-west side is a gravestone to a thomas Wilson of Flatt (1723-1773). The stone bears a shield with an animal like a horse, but meant to be a wolf. This Thomas Married Ann Graham of Ryehill in 1741 and ............"

There is a full list of names of monuments of the Bewcastle Churchyard on the Bewcastle website which does not list the above named Thomas Wilson. Does anyone know if the stone is there?
Thank you
