The Stay Safe Board / Re: Diary summary week ending 27th April
« on: Monday 21 April 25 21:29 BST (UK)  »
The days seem all over the place and as for the dates I’m always terrible!
Dull and cloudy this morning and then rain which all the newly planted vegs/ seeds are in desperate need of.
The rain didn’t stop our grandsons from being in the garden but lunch soon brought them inside… I had a full fridge when they arrived yesterday morning and by teatime today it’s looking very empty!
Looking forward to the sun and warmer weather returning.

Hope everyone has had an enjoyable Easter whatever the weathers been like and enjoy the rest of the week.
Take care everyone

Good luck with your scooter Viktoria, I will be thinking of you tomorrow and hope you’ll enjoy your first? Outing on it!

We listened to Gareth Southgate too, what a measured man he is and such thoughtfulness and good advice he gave… an inspiration to the young. It’s a pity his missed penalty always gets brought up.. poor man. It sounds like he had good advice after the event as been able to learn such strength from it.

Glad to hear that RTL is ok.

Goodnight all, looking forward to a warm day tomorrow.

It’s quite fascinating looking up well known people …. My daughter lives in Blondin Ave, the next road is Niagara Ave… it piqued my interest and sure enough Charles Blondin and family lived there for 11 years in the late 1800’s.
His house was actually built opposite The Plough ( established in 1700’s) and some of the surrounding roads were named after him along with Blondin park that is held by the council and includes a nature reserve, allotments. The whole area was originally an orchard…
My grandson assisted me when we looked up the census and 1939 register to see who’d originally lived in their house.. he was quite enthused with it all so hopefully a budding genealogist in the making!
Bit of a digression from the original subject but hey ho!

Wow good news all round then for Jebber and KG… glad to hear you’re both on the mend..
Good to hear hospital staff are providing such good care in these difficult times too.
Always nice to get home to your own bed too… even after a holiday I look forward to my own bed.
Take care to both of you and Gillg, Viktoria, Mowsehowse and anyone else who’s needing our collective thoughts.

My goodness LM you’re still up as am I!

Sounds like you have a busy week … Hope you enjoy your catch up with your friend who’s returned from Brisbane. Wonderful to be following your grandsons progress through NZ with lots of pictures.

Usual week for me but following week I’m going to stay with my daughter for a couple of days and we’re going to the Vogue, immersive cat walk event! Also having the new carpet in the hall stairs and landing fitted the day before I go to London!

Hope Viktoria is ok as it’s unusual for her not to post during the week..
Also Jebber maybe home now with any luck as her experience doesn’t sound the best!
Wishing everyone else who has various health issues a better time too… spring is on its way hopefully!

Stay cheerful

I’ve been a RC for 10 years and over that time had help and advice from many people.. it’s one of the friendliest sites I’ve used and throughout covid the daily diaries helped many of us… and still does.

I recognise some of the names others have mentioned and sad to see those no longer here.. but as we all get older it’s an inevitability.
The panto was great fun to be involved with…

Support and virtual friendship for one another is great and long may it continue.

Thanks for starting the new week Roobarb..
Miserable day here today, spattering of rain every so often quite unlike yesterday and Saturday..
As I looked out of the conservatory window at all the snow drops, mini daffs and iris they hadn’t got quite the sparkle they had in the sunshine… ah well we can just hope for improvements.
Good to see you on her MH and hope you’re getting on well with the support classes…
LM - pity your day out was not enhanced by public transport, never makes one feel easy hanging around at dusk.. come to think of it we’ve not hear from River Tyne Lass for a while hope she’s ok.
Great idea BumbleB for long vases and short flowers.. will have to remember that one.
Well hoping tomorrows spent the afternoon rehanging our pics now the hall stairs and landing have been repainted..
it reminded me of exactly 5 years ago when first covid lock down was just about to start and we were hanging the same pictures in different places .. quite a de ja vue experience…
Was it really 5 years ago when we all started posting our daily thoughts on here.. and we’re still going strong!
Well hoping tomorrows going to be a better day for a new walk a friend and I are trying..
Take care all and hope all those who are suffering are feeling better.

Sorry to hear the chest of drawers was out to get you… darned thing! I often hit my head on the cooker hood as it’s glass and I misjudge it 😂😂 no damage done though..
take care and look after the bruise..

My family are safe, well no water in the house and power restored.. still lots of cleaning up outside once water goes down.. one of their neighbours still without power as large tree fell across their power line.. but all hands to the pump, literally, and helping one another out..
D-in-laws birthday on Wednesday and their anniversary on Thursday.. they were due to visit friends on the Sunshine Coast for a few days… first time they’d have been away since she’d been on dialysis and transplant but don’t think that’s going to happen now such a shame.

Well another dull day after all that beautiful sunshine at the w/end 😢.
Take care everyone

Thanks Roobarb for the RC posts..we’ve been looking at the Brisbane Councils Emergency dashboard along with other up to date live info.

Lovely sunny day here today and outside in just a T shirt! OH has mowed the lawns for the first time and I’ve just cleaned out the inside of both cars..

Relaxing with lunch then France v Ireland rugby to watch!
Hope everyone else is having nice weather.
