World War Two / Hugh Thomason 1917-1993

I am trying to gain information on Hugh Thomason, born Shetland 1917 died Thurso Scotland 1993.  He was in WWII as I believe a Private in an Infantry Division.  He  was at the Normandy Landings for sure and afterwards went to berlin.  I cant seem to get started on him.  Any help gratefully accepted.  Kathy :)

Does anyone have any photos of etna cottages in armadale, or even info on what they eould have been like? My g grandparents mcmaster lived there 1906 onwards and i believe they had a wee shop there also a shop in the village itself. Thx kathy

I am looking for some photos of children in armadale primary school between 1910 and 1920. My grandfather robert mcmaster and brother willie mcmaster may have been pictured there. Anyone got any old photos? Thx kathy

I am looking for information on the guthrie family who would have lived in glasgow 1870-1910 probably longer. All i have is annie guthrie who married john mcmaster c 1904  and they would have been presbyterians. I am keen to trace this guthrie line. Sorry not much to go on. Thx kathy

Hallo I was wondering how to look up records from people who have been in the Armed Forces.  Just recently I needed to look up my birth certificate, I was born overseas but to British parents.  Also marriage and death records?  Is there a base for Forces records?  Couldnt find anything on Ancestry.  Thx Kathy :)

I am trying to trace Annie Guthrie's family.  She was born in Glasgow c1870 Presbyterian Church, and  married John McMaster 1903 moved to N Ireland then the family moved back to Armadale about 1906, between the Censuses bless them.  Any info on how to go forward on moving backward!! with this link gratefully accepted.  Kathy  :)

Antrim / The Huguenots - and the surname Quirey

I am researching the Huguenots and their flight to the various countries during the French Civil War 1550 ish.They fled to Scotland, Ireland and the North Americas, anywhere with a growing Presbysterian or particularly protestant following. I have reason to believe that my family Quirey were part of the refugee movement to Ireland.  Has anyone any information on the Huguenot influx to Northern Ireland, and in particular, to the Quirey family?

My furthest research takes me to William Quirey, late 1800s, Engine driver in Belfast.  His daughter, Sarah, was my great great grandmother, married 1870 to Thomas McMaster in Church of Ireland, Belfast.

I am looking for some general info on Machrihanish, etc from 18th Century onwards.  What would have been the livelihood of people living there?  And where are the cemeteries located?  I know there is a cemetery located at Southend, with a footstep of Columba!! (This sort of hangs together with my post on the McMasters of Kintyre).  Thx Kathy

I am looking for some McMaster records that may date back as far as 1760.  I understand that gravestones have confirmed McMasters living on the Mull of Kintyre from as far back as that.  A family of McMasters emigrated to N. Ireland around 1760, fro the Mull.  Any ideas folks?  Thx Kathy :)
