Hi,

I'm just wondering if anyone has any information or any links to the following ancestors who emigrated from Scotland to Canada? By the looks of it my great grandad William Murdoch Elder was the only one of his family that stayed in Scotland.

The rest were:

Mother:

Mary Jane Murdock b. 5/11/1863 (Ire) m. 5/2/1880 (Sco) d. 27/2/1932 Canada

Siblings:

Robert Wallace Stewart b. 4/11/1880 (Ire)
Andrew Irvine b. 15/11/1883 (Sco) m. 9/9/1919 (Can), d. 1/11/1948 (Detroit)
Frank Kirkpatrick b. ~1882 (Sco) m. 9/9/1922 (Can) Not with fam on 1891 census
John b. ~ 1895 (Sco), m. 25/10/1912 (Can)
Daniel b. ~1891

I managed to find the various certificates through scotlandspeople and familysearch but any additional information at all would be great.

No way! I think this has to be the correct relatives now! Is there any other way I can back this up? Or do I take it that these are the relatives (not william james murdoch!)- all the clues seem to match up!

I've got a Scottish birth certificate for 1866, but the more i look at it i think I've got the wrong one. The marriage is definitely correct, but the birth now look unlikely! Looking at the 1891 census in Govan, Glasgow i have the whole family in Govan, with a boarder John Murdock from Ireland aged 70. So, think that might suggest again, i've got the wrong birth certificate! What do you think?

Hi folks,

I was hoping someone might be able to help me. I'm looking at my Great Grandfathers birth certificate and it states his parents Robert Elder and Mary Jane Murdoch were married on 5/2/1880 in Ballywatt, Antrim.

However, having searched online at the Irish records I can't seem to find this marriage. I don't know if anyone has any way of finding this out or directing me to another source as I seem to have hit a bit of a dead end. I would love to find their marriage certificate to continue the trail.

I totally understand you now! From the information I have Agnes and George had a fair few children...George b. 1875, James b. 1877, William b. 1879, Agnes b. 1882, Mary b. 1886, Richard b. 1888, Allan b. 1891, Helen b. 1893, Jessie b. 1896, Margaret b. 1898.

Do you happen to have further information on James Anderson and the family before him- I seem to have hit a brick wall!
