Durham / Re: Bambrough Family
« on: Monday 08 October 12 14:33 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have John Bambrough born 1789 at Whickham on a family tree. He married Elizabeth Lonsdale in 1828 at Houghton-le-Spring and they had ten children.

Anyone know if this is a second marriage for the John Bambrough who married Dorothy Storey in 1817?

Apologies for interrupting the flow of this thread - It is not the same John Bambrough as I've found John & Dorothy in 1841.

Durham Lookup Requests / Re: New Road, Durham

Hi,

I think Stan has identified the correct couple in Brandon in 1841 which means that the couple in New North Road in 1851

are not the same couple. (That William Mowbray, a master tailor, married Ann Harrison in 1844).

William and Susannah Mowbray (listed as Mowbry) are at Chester-le-Street with their family in 1851. (HO107 2394 172 23).

For anyone interested in a Jane Revell born 1881 Northumberland but who later lived and died in the Consett area - there is a photo with some family history details for sale on a well known site.

(I have no connection or interest in the sale of this item).

Hi,

I can see Thomas Clark and family in Startforth on the 1881/1891/1901 census on Ancestry.

His wife died before 1891.

Durham / Re: Can anyone help - Family from Bowden Close, Helmington Row

I don't think so. In the 1861 census his wife is listed as Widow and her occupation is Tailors widow. The death certificate which I have now ordered and received states that this John Watson was a Tailor so ties in to a certain extent. However informant is a John Dixon and not a wife so not 100% sure and will need to investigate a little further yet. Thanks for the help though - much appreciated.

I'm confused. In your original message John Watson is alive in 1871 and is a coal miner. (I've seen this on the census).

I can also see his wife, Mary, listed as a widow at Thornley in 1881 but no mention of her being a 'Tailors widow'.

Are we talking about the same person? :)
