Hello again!!
We all thought Alice's mother's name was Bridget.............the census mistake or ours?! However, I am 100% sure this is the right family as I know they lived in Grant Road.......
I shall try and sort out the Bridget/Anne problem - maybe Bridget was the Grandmother and we've got it wrong.
Off to do some work now - I am getting addicted to Roots!!!!!
Enjoy the sun - if you have any ;D

Hello everyone!
We know :
 Marriage Jun 1892 Wandsworth  1d 1159
George William Rix - Alice Cooke (am ordering marriage certificate!)

George Rix in Battersea in 1891, age 22, Platelayer, b. County Clare(!) in the same household as an Alice Cook age 22 ... whose mother is from county Clare

I know the Cooks came originally from County Clare (Clare Castle or Castle Clare) and am going to try and hunt them down!

And I know that the 1901 census is right - the Kathleen Rix aged 2 is my grandmother.....

This side of the family is a heck of a lot more difficult than the other side............

Still trying to find where Bridget comes into it,  maybe she was Ann Bridget ???

Going off  to enjoy the Breton sun now!

Many thanks for all your trouble!

Don't rely too much on the census information.  He could have been having a bad day, his wife, or any other person in the house, may have answered the enumerator or filled in the forms and it does happen that people lie.

One of my ancestors said he was born in Norfolk in 1841, Guildford in Surrey in another and Ireland in the last one he was in.   :-\

The census are fantastic tools but they were not drawn up for us family historians and some information is just plain wrong. :o
