The 1871 census Show John Wishlade showing that Eliza Wolleton(the married name of Eliza Hooton from the 1841 census)was his sister but they have different fathers. So that was a great help.
Trisha  ;D ;D ;D ;D

This is the bit I don't understand re John and his 'sister'

1841 has a Sulina Wallorter - with a sister Eliza- (Eliza is shown as older) living at East Leake Allotment

The 1858 BUCKINGHAM/WISHLADE marriage is in the IGI - but no fathers' names. :(

Note:  Mary WISHLADE (the one from Eastbourne) was still a servant of the WAL(T)HAMs in 1861 and 1871.  The one who married Edward HOOTON in 1862 was a different person.

I could imagine that the Edward HOOTON was the one bap in 1818 rather than his father.

Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

That makes two of us!  We seem to have been working forwards rather than backwards.

Is it me  ;D or weren't we asked to work forward from the beginning?

I know that there is a previous thread re pre 1861 but not sure now, in view of Geoff's intervention who we are really looking for - are Frances and John the right children of the right person  :o
