Just curious........does anyone know if the P.H. Pearce mentioned is the Pádraig H. Pearce that started St. Edna's School ???

mab

Yes, one and the same.
Pearse often appears as Pearce.

Very interesting.......sorry to bud into the original post  :-[

Is there a list of the people who were arrested and/or who died during the uprising? Maybe in a book?

mab

added: thank you for correcting my spelling of the name....I got it off a website related to a name I've been investigating  :)

Go to

www.TheEasterRising.eu

Look Under, Who was actually "out" on Easter week.

You can e-mail the author & inquire about you relatives surname to see if they are on the list!

Unfortumately, the map does not seem to cover the block of buildings on Moore Street that the fugitives from the GPO tunnelled through to reach/form their temporary headquarters (numbers 12-26? Moore St).

In 1911, my grandmother was living at number 24.  Is it possible to find out if she was still there at the time of the Rising?  Are there directories or electoral rolls/poll-books that cover this period?

If so, where in Dublin could those be found? e.g. electoral rolls

For everything Dublin related, go upstairs in Pearse Street library.

Thanks for that. Hope to have the opportunity to do so very soon now.

Thank you for reminding me about your post.

I looked at it awhile back but the person I'm looking for isn't there. He apparently fought at the GPO age 16.

My Family the Keane's lived in Henry Place in Dublin just off Henry Street, which was involved in the 1916 Easter uprising when the rebels vacated the GPO retreating up henry street turning into Henry place! Does anybody know if any photo's exist of Henry Place during that period or of any accounts from the residents of Henry place?
