Hi pollycat,
You may find it interesting to search the PO directories.
http://www.slwa.wa.gov.au/find/guides/wa_history/post_office_directoriesIt is a rare surname and, it would appear, he is the only one by the name in WA
However, there is an interesting pattern in the listing which may or may not be significant.
Around 1923 to 1927, he is listed as ROBERT at an address 431 Newcastle St. Perth.
But in 1927, there
also appears a seperate listing for HUGH Forcus at 14 John St. North fremanlte
This pattern of the 2 listings continues with variations to 1931 when it reverts to ROBERT
only at 431 Newcastle St. Perth.
There was and still is a certain caution about single women listing under the title Mrs. or Miss and I wonder if this is an indication of an early separation.

I note also that the son you refer to George Henry Ackland is buried at Karrakatta.
His father appears to have been married before he married Mary Jane and so there are anumber of half siblings to Gerge Henry junior.

You can see these birth entries . Perhaps he is another George Henry.Ackland. What do you think
