Parishes in Northumberland in 1885

I am searching for the towns in the parish of Newbiggin in 1885.
Does anyone know where I can find this information?

Thanks for that, Jennifer, its just I've been chatting to the Morpeth Register office this morning about it, and the gentleman there said that Newbiggin Parish was quite large and had a number of towns?
I just thought if I knew the area - and the towns within it, I could have another look at the censuses?
That link is for the 'town' of Newbiggin - not the parish.

I don't want to confuse this thread, with my original one - I just wanted to know which towns were in the parish of Newbiggin in 1885.

According to the Genuki page, Newbiggin was a chapelry within Woodhorn Parish http://www.genuki.bpears.org.uk/NBL/Woodhorn/index.html

As far as I can see, the Chapelry consisted only of Newbiggin itself - there were no other towns within it.

Castana - maybe you could go back to the man at Morpeth and ask which Newbiggin he was referring to and what towns/villages were part of it because the only ones that we know of are fairly small distinct communities/parishes.

As an example of the extent of the largest Newbiggin (and most obvious)  in Northumberland, it is covered in 1891 census by 2 EDs - one of 2 and one of 53 pages.

Thank you Jennifer and Gadget.

I phoned the morpeth register office this morning as they had returned my cheque for the John Richardson cert, saying that of the two listed in Morpeth - neither were born in Newbiggin, but then the chap at the office started saying that Newbiggin was a big parish at the time of Johns birth.
So that is what has confused me. He didn't say which Newbiggin?
I am resending two cheques and a long explanation as to how I've got the date and name of John Richardson etc, so we'll have to see what is returned.

The more we dig deeper into this, the more confusing it all becomes.

As a matter of interest - and I know this relates to the original thread... I just found a marriage to a Duncan Ritchie and a Matilda Jane Seymour Sep 06 NewcastleT.
It just struck me that if John's birthday was correct (Aug 1885) that he might have been married before he married Mary Jane, although it does give him as a batchelor in 1913?
