I've really come to a dead end on my research, and i don't know where to go from here, and i'm hoping someone out there, may have any suggestions too were to go from here, this is what i have:

Gertrude (widow) remarried in 1898 to John Forsythe, and had two daughters Helena and Violet.

I see George's middle name as Barrett, may be a clue on his grandmothers maiden name, and maybe William Flanagan married a Barrett.


Jessie's middle name Vigurs comes from her grandmothers name, on her mother Gertrude's side.

Any suggestions are welcome PLEASE !

This could be a long shot but Gertrude was COI so I presume that John Flangan was too

On the 1901 census in Waterford there is only one COI Flanagan family that I can see:

Maybe the Tiffin family used this establisment on their travels ?

On the other hand John Flanagan's family could have been in the military and travelling too, which means you have a big job on your hands !

Hi Tara,

Thanks for information on Gertrudes side of the family, its actually the Flanagans that i've been trying to locate for a long time, as you can see aghadowey has pointed out many threads i've done, but without success.

I know my Flanagans were back and forth from Waterford and Belfast, and his occupation was a Traveller, as you would say a salesman.

I did find one John Flanagan the will in the Co Down area in 1894, but unfortunately this one left his home and monies to his wife Mary, so i can count that one out.
 
Thats why i would like a bit of help of where do i go from now.

It's a pity that John died before the 1901 census, it's going to make it difficult to locate details on him without a confirmed place of birth. Do you have any clues as to where in Ireland your Flanagan's came from ?

I see from one of your earlier posts that his father's name was William , and his occupation was Clerk... unfortunately not the type of occupation that would be listed in directories.

Hi shane,

Thanks so much for your concern, i'm really running out of ideas now, John Flanagan my 2xgrandfather is a very hard man to find.

I recently found out John had a third child named George Barnett Flanagan born April 1893 Belfast, and died three months later in July 1893 also in Belfast.

I'm wondering when George was conceived, John died not long after, as theres  two possibilities of John Flanagans that died in the quarters jul-sep and oct-dec Waterford in 1892.

Anyway shane theres also another seven John Flanagan who died between 1892 - 1897, and that makes it very difficult to find which is the right one, anyway i'll see if i can narrow it down.
