Hi all

I am stuck with a brick wall here and hoping for some help.
I have a marriage for William Gaskill Heyworth to Sarah Ann Walker in 1903 at Ashton Register Office. However I think I have been working the wrong Sarah Ann Walker :(
William Heyworth was b1875 in Rochdale. I had been working off the belief that Sarah Ann Walker was from Chinley/Chapel en le Frith Derbyshire. It now appears this is wrong and that the Srah Ann Walker I require was born circa 1882 in Rotherham, Yorkshire.
William & Sarah were my Grandfathers parents and I have them living on Hope St in Ashton under Lyne Lancs on the 1911 Census.
What I really need is Sarahs origins.
Sorry to set you all to work on a sunday night but I know how you all love a brick wall ;)

Jason - do you have the marriage certificate? If not it would be useful for the extra information, given Walker is a common surname. If you already have it can you post her father's name & occupation if given please. Were any of the witnesses Walkers? Was her age consistent between the marriage & 1911 census?

FreeBMD has one matching birth on the index - you could try getting that certificate:

I think I may have Sarah Ann on Census, Father Walter, but it gets a little messy as he seems to have Married at least twice and is hard to follow on Census.

Please let us know the details from the Cert when you get it and we can try and help :)

Possible Sarah Ann Walker born c 1882 Wakefield, Yorks, is living in Warrington, Lancashire with Parents WALTER/ANNE in 1891 Census
Walter is a Painter born c 1853 Wakefield.
Wife Anne c 1861 Wortley, Yorks
Children;
Henry D 1876 Preston, Lancs
James 1877 Preston, Lancs
Ethel 1878 Wortley, Yorks

Now Anne appears to be too young to be the Mother of the older Children.

1901 Walter (now Walter B) seems to have married again to a Sarah who is older than him born Lancs.
He is still born c 1853 Wakefield and is now a Publican
Daug Sarah A age 19 is an unm Barmaid

EDIT; Marriage from LancsOPC,
Walter Bastow WALKER - 41, Painter, Widower, of Academy St m Sarah FORD - 46, Widow,  of Bridge St, 1 Oct 1893 Holy Trinity, Warrington, Lancashire
Groom's Father: HENRY Walker, Shoemaker
Bride's Father: Andrew MAKIN, deceased


You need Sarahs Marriage Cert to William Heyworth to confirm her Fathers name/occp. I see you have ordered it which is great.
