Might be worth checking for a marriage and a burial  in the Catholic registers!

Another long shot - also spied an Irish couple living a 2 Kilblain St (same as the Lamonts) called Wilson ( Mary Lamont's maiden name).
Now I know Wilson is a very common name. I have a whole lot of Wilsons too, originating from Ireland as well but I thought it worth mentioning.
William Wilson age 57 and Roseanna Wilson age 50
3 sons William age 20 (a sugar baker), Charles age 15 and John age 13. All the boys born in Greenock.

Just saw that family too. Mary's father was William and her mother was Bridget (O'Neil).

Can not locate Peter jnr or Henry in any census after 1861 or marriage records that fit.

Could be Mary's brother, Sharon? Then again might be no relation at all ???
The Michael Lamont I mentioned is also on the 1841 Census but for some reason he is not transcribed on the site I use www.freecen.org.uk    but he is on Family Search
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VYCB-LGD

He is only 45 on this record so the poor soul has aged 20 years in 10!
With a bit of luck he might have died after 1855 and his death record could provide info. Then again he too might be no relation :(!

Good luck with you hunt. I need to go out soon (life getting in the way of family history ;D) but will log in later and see if there is any updates.

Checked SP for a possible death for Michael Lamont and no positive results I am afraid.

I've just received this enhanced copy of Peter's death cert:

 ???

There's no other letter on the whole page that resembles it!
