1864 Church Baptism Record
« on: Tuesday 31 December 13 18:08 GMT (UK) »
I have a baptism record that gives the following:

Address:   Dornagh   Parish/District:   COALISLAND

Would anyone know where this address would be?  Can't find anywhere that is remotely similar in Tyrone.

Any help appreciated.  VB

Hi,
There is a townland of DERNAGH in the parish of Clonoe in the district of Dungannon. Google maps show DERNAGH Cottages just outside Coalisland,

Hi,
I think it may be the townland of BALLYNAKILLY which is just to the south of Coalisland. Once again you can see Ballynakilly Cottages on Google maps. Also a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and yours.

once again.. thank you and one final question if I may .. which RC church do you think each of these families would have attended in 1864?  Would they have had one in each of their own villages do you think being less than three miles apart?  I ask as I see from my research that there are a number of girls who may be from the same family, married to men (brothers) from the sme family (all farmers) but their children are baptised in different churches (I think) but that would make sense to me as they would likely marry in the brides church but then move to where the men farmed and had their family houses.  Hope that makes sense  ???

Hi,
I'm afraid that I do not know the area but I think that R.C. Churches covered a fairly large area so I think that one in Coalisland would have covered these. However I stand to be corrected.
