It is possible that they have mother and daughter the wrong way round.
Sarah A. Allen married James Ashworth Sept 1866 St.Philip, Manchester.
What do you think

I could be wrong. James Ashworth & Sarah Ann Allen had a son called John. James's father was called John. Perhaps the child died within a short time of being born.

There is this baptism parents James Ashworth & Sarah, father's occuption is a  warehouseman
but it's 5 years before their marriage, so probably a different couple

John Ashworth bapt St Chad Rochdale Jan 12th, 1862 born 2nd August 1861

Not seeing a later baptism on Ancestry Manchester, England, Births and Baptisms, 1813-1915 for a John Ashworth or a baptism for Amy Alice Ashworth 1867

Have found this on familysearch BUT surname is ASHWIN

1867 St Philip Manchester Amy Alice parents James & Sarah Ann (Sharples ???)
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/F9MD-CM6

going to check it out on Ancestry to see if it's there

Ok it’s on Ancestry as ASHISON

NO mother’s maiden name given on the baptism (above baptism has surname of Sharples)

Amy Alice ASHWIN 6th Oct 1867 St Philip Manchester
parents James & Sarah Ann
Abode Cobdin Street,
James' occ Cutlooker (think that’s what it says)

Not seeing an 1867 birth entry on FreeBMD for an Amy Alice ASHWIN

1871 census James, Amy & Sarah Ann Ashworth living at 100 Cobden St Manchester

I think you may need to think about purchasing the 1867 birth certificate for
Amy A Ashworth (as posted by Radcliff)

This is going to confirm her father’s occupation & her mother’s name

There are also these two baptism at St Philip Manchester

Fred Ashworth 10th Dec 1871
F James occ manager of a factory m Sarah Ann, Edenson Street

Herbert Ashworth 1st Nov 1874
F James occ warehouseman m Sarah Ann, Mill St Bradford
(Looking at the baptism name looks more like Albert)

There’s a Fred born c1872  & Albert Ashworth born c1874 Bradford
on 1881 census with James & Martha & Amy Alice

and these baptisms which may be James & Martha's children

Bapt 25 March 1883 St Mary Beswick
Ethel Ashworth & James Milne Ashworth
f James Asst. manager m Martha, 92 Ashton New Road

James' b/c would confirm Martha's maiden name (most probable Hitchings)

James Milne Ashworth Sep 1882 Prestwich 8d page 365 he died age 2 in 1885

bapts 7 Sept 1884 Christchurch Bradford
Elizabeth Ann Ashworth
F James occ warehouseman & Martha 35 Rowsley St

I am leaning towards Saran Ann Allen born 1847 and died Dec 26.1876 in Prestwich. I know it is not a guesting game, it is about hard evidence.
