Jane Hood Wife of John Hood of Selby, Mariner, 65 years.
Jane Hood is another mystery! The Selby Dade Register has no descent.
No Headstone, nothing in the newspaper, no Yorkshire Will.
-----------
Been considering the following (nothing set in stone though).
Maudland Hood's lineage was given, when Charles & Maudland Turner's 1st daughter was born/ bapt at Selby, Yorkshire in 1795
1756
John Leppington married Elizabeth Spencer at Scarborough.
Present (as wits) were:- John Smith and Mary Spencer (both signed)
1763
The Licence confirms Elizabeth Leppington of Scarborough 26 years was a Widow when she married John Hood of Scarborough, Mariner and John Jefferson of the same place, Mariner, was their Bondsman.
Present (as wits) at their Marriage were John Cornforth ; John Jefferson
Added: This would give Elizabeth Spencer, an approximate birth of 1736-1737.
Maudland Hood, Descent
According to the 1795 Birth of Elizabeth Turner, 1st daughter of Charles and Maudland Turner at Selby, the Descent column says:-
"Morland Dau'r of John Hood of Selby Mariner by Elizabeth his Wife Dau'r of John Spencer of Scarbro' Mariner."
Elizabeth Hood [John Hood's Wife] appears to have been buried at Scarborough shortly after the birth of Maudland Hood at Scarborough.
Suggestion only for John Spencer's Wife
If Mary Spencer, the witness at Elizabeth Spencer's first Marriage to John Leppington in 1756, was John Spencer's Wife (nothing to prove Mary Spencer was John Spencer's wife) ...
Then a possible marriage (nothing to prove this either) and also Mother for Elizabeth Spencer might be:-
1717 Scarborough
12th Sept Jno Spencer & Mary Barton.
Incidentally same day, so might be related, a dual marriage.
12th Sept Tho: Shepherd & Fortune Spencer.
Possible Quaker link if it could be proven -
Now if this could be proved true and Mary Barton was of the Barton family of Scarborough, that would mean the Grandmother of Maudland Turner (nee Hood) was almost certainly from a family with Quaker family links.
1753 Malton Monthly Quaker Meeting

Comment
Now if these Barton children in the Court case were linked to the above Barton family of Scarborough and of Malton by 1753 (some of whom were Quakers) and if the catalogue description is a good summary, it would appear to link two Barton children with a Marshall? Or he had been appointed to represent / Tutor (case not seen).
If so, this might explain why Mary Ann Prince [Daughter of James Prince of Scarborough, later of Selby] was present also as a witness at 1794 Selby marriage of Charles Turner & Maudland Hood, because James Prince married Grace Marshall at Scarborough.
----------
We have proven (by signature comparison) the Stears signature at the 1794 Charles Turner = Maudland Hood, marriage was a Quaker.
