this margaret merrick not the one sadly. we have looked into it.  do you think she could have survived living in England til 1980 without ever having to produce a birth certificate?

Yes.

Mary Muncock, 24 July 1912, Mother: Muncock, Dublin, is the surname Muncock or something else?

If you are fairly sure of her date of birth & think she was born in Dublln, try browsing [they are not indexed] the parish registers for Dublin just after that date
https://registers.nli.ie/
for a Marie/Maria with father Joseph.

As Jeremiah Merrick was born and married in Tipperary this one might be a possibility

Birth date: 2nd June 1913
Place of birth: Thurles Workhouse Tipperary
Child: Mary Mahony
Mother: Mary Mahony

this could be her!  i will do some more digging. maybe later there was a baptism under her mothers name and some mention of the father to give her the surname she used for most of her life til 1940/. thank you

do you think she might have officially changed her surname to Merrick in later life and there would be a record of this anywhere?

she doesn't appear anywhere on 1939 census.

If she wasn't on the Register she would not have been able to get an identity card or ration book so she must be there somewhere.  Do you know how many children she would have had with her in 1939?
