well shaun  I found the attestation papers for Romily a year or too back and that has a signature and we know it was correct from address  have just checked my copy

Do you mean this signature? That can't be him because it is clearly stated to be someone vouching for him, presumably his father:

No that is on the last page the signature is on the 1st page  I have 3 pages ist one is the start page
and one Romily put on

sorry apologies I have just gone back and checked you are correct it isnt his signature its not been signed  sandie on knees  sorry

Just looking at this 15 page thread on Family Tree Forum. All these issues, including the lack of a recruit signature on the 1886 attestation form, have been gone over before.

I’ve been trying to find my Grandfather since I first started looking in the late 1970’s.

I’ve posted about him on several Forums, I don’t see any problem with that.

What is your point?
