I have hit a brick wall where my 2nd great grandfather is concerned. From family records he was born on the 15 January 1845, Ramsey, Isle of Man. He was christened 17 February 1845
Maughold, Isle of Man.

1971 he was living in Paddington, Middlesex, England, United Kingdom. Other than that I have no idea when he arrived in Australia. If he had siblings.

1851 census there is a Charles age 6 as a pupil along with a Fanny Sommerville age 10 also a pupil.

She could be a sister.

1871 census he is in Paddington age 26 as a boarder (presume you meant 1871 not 1971!)

Where does Australia come into it?

1861 possible as a visitor in Leicestershire age 16 so he doesn't appear with family - apart from possibly Fanny.

Could look for a birth for her in case it helps.

A family tree has his father as Henry and his mother as Frances Rogers.

However the tree also says he married in Australia 1868 so what was he doing back in Paddington in 1871
