kimmit - censuses generally began in 1841 and then every 10 years. Joanna died in 1827 aged 45 and it looks as though William then re-married to Susanna. So, as William then died in 1845, there won't be any other census apart from the one that rosie99 showed you from 1841. There was an 1831 census taken for Tiverton, but records only numbers of males and females and has no useful data.
I did check Tiverton baptisms and there are none for a Charles JACOB(S).

There is another baptism at Chatham for a Henry Jacobs parents William & Joanna 12 March 1815

Having established that the William & Robert I found are sons of your William & Joanna with places of birth as Ninehead (Nynehead) and Chatham I am thinking that perhaps when William snr completed the 1841 he should have put no to bn in Devon.  The 1841 was often wrong with this information and the border is very close to Somerset.

I think it is likely that your William could be the one baptised in Nynehead 27th April 1780 parents Thomas & Mary.

ADDED That Thomas & Mary were baptising children at Nynehead from at least 1773

They don't muck around when hubby's die do they but i guess they have a family to support.
All day i have been putting pen to paper so it is neat and not a shambles. Now i can read it more clearly. Will have to work on John, Mary and Ann Jacobs children of William and Joanna to see where and when they were born.
Once again thank you for your help it has been invaluable
Regards Kim
