Rochdale Baptism 1844 Thomas Young
« on: Tuesday 06 June 23 19:38 BST (UK) »
I am searching for the baptism record for Thomas Young b 12 Dec 1844 at Packer Street, Rochdale. Parents John and Susan nee Burton.

In some censuses his birthplace is given as Bacup, others as Rochdale.

His brother John was buried August of the same year at St Chad's.

Any pointers appreciated.

https://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk/ Shows his birth as Castleton, so that wouldn’t be Bacup.

Is he in Liverpool in 1851 with mother Susan?

There is this burial in 1844 at St Chad’s Rochdale
John Young, son of John Young, 4 yrs
Packer Street
The death index shows John is 3 yrs.

Birth 1841 Manchester John Young mmn Burton

There doesn’t seem to be a baptism at St Chad’s for your Thomas Young

Did you see there is an earlier birth , 1839, for a John Young with mmn Burton in Manchester.
There are baptisms for both Johns at the Cathedral (Collegiate church).
Are these your family?
There is also a Jane b 1838

There seem to be some gaps in online records for St Chad's. His brother Thomas was buried 1851 but the record does not appear online, nor any others on the page.

If birth was registered Castleton Nearer could there be a church in that area where he was baptized?

Birth certificate gives birthplace as Packer Street.

Is this correct? I don’t see a burial in 1851?

So did Thomas b 1844 not survive either.
You mention him in censuses.

You can view ‘All  Rochdale’ on Lancashire opc - still can’t see a baptism for Thomas.
