Isaac EGGERTON (?EGGENTON), born 1827, London

Hello,

Information for Isaac EGGERTON is limited to the above sadly.  I have been trying unsuccessfully to find family details, although I understand his parents were James EGGERTON and Marguarite (Margaret) WEBSTER.   The only reference I have been able to uncover is the 1841 Census for Parkhurst Prison on the Isle of Wight where he had been a prisoner since May 1840, having been convicted the previous April at the Old Bailey then aged 13.

I hope someone can help.

The Newgate prison register (PCOM 2/206) has him born in Westminster, if that's any help.

Was he in prison for about a year before transported,  seems a long time

A very comprehensive tree on Anc* suggests he ended up in New Zealand passing away in 1897. Even a group photo of him with family.

The Isaac Eggerton who died in NZ in 1897 was, apparently, born ~1824.

Flags were half-masted on the wharf to-day, out of respect for the late Mr Isaac Eggerton, who died on Saturday. Mr Eggerton, who was in his 73rd year, was one of Auckland's oldest identities. He was in business for many years as a timber merchant, and used to own the cutter Waterlily and other coastal vessels.
