Good morning RC's and thanks for continuing to look and research. Below is the original rootschat request See reply #12. I know that myself and another rc sent the poster pm's offering to try and help. Much is now known about the 2 sisters, ie parents, where born, census, deaths and children. I have received several pm's also with help.

With regard to Frances a good picture has imerged but has thrown up other issues.

1. She does not appear to have married, but adopted the surname Smith, and electoral registers would indicate she is living with Paul Francis Smith

2.In 1939 war register I believe it says Married but image is very hard to read. Underneath her entry are 2 redacted entries. One I am sure is her daughter born Smith/Downie in Hendon 1928.

3 Her probate record mentions this daughter, with a married name of Payne,.

4 Why has she mentioned Sean Andrew Smith in her probate record? He would appear to have been born in 1924 with mmn Andrew, and possible parents Thomas S Smith and Mable.

I have found Sean Andrew Smith at 72, Constable Gardens on electoral registers from 1946-61. Is he a possible son of Frances. He goes off the radar from 1961.

SS

SS - from our PM as you've mentioned SAS was shown on ER at 72 Constable Gardens he's with a Mabel Smith - I thought he may have married a Mabel (edit to add in 1945) and his possible parents Thomas S Smith and Agnes Andrew married 1922 Islington  ???

Edit to add

If his father was Thomas S (the birth certificate needed to confirm) it could be that Thomas S had a brother named Paul  ??? Will see if I can find anything...

Has the birth certificate be purchased for Frances daughter to confirm her father's name?

I think it maybe a 'W' - I have added an enlarged snippet for the entry above Frances which shows 'M' to see what others think of Frances martial status underneath

Where is she in 1939? I have failed completely to find her on Ancestry, and I think someone else has said the same thing

I'll also have a winge about Ancestry's indexing on the London electoral registers. Sean is there, but his address is wrong on every single entry!

I couldn't find her either on Ancestry then I tried Mary Walker 1906 Middlesex
Frances can be found easily on F M P - Frances Smith 1891 Harrow U.D. Middlesex

I have now found the image for Frances by managing to locate someone else in Constable Gardens, but not the index! I've tried all sorts - part names, the full and partial date of birth etc. Heaven knows what Ancestry have done!

Thomas S Smith is Thomas Sydney Smith b 1888. Agnes appears to be his second wife. Trying to trace his back history to see if it gives any hints for Paul

(Got my Thomas Sidney war records mixed up - different one married previously)
