Oxfordshire / Looking for Rothesay House Scool oxford and failing miserably!

Is anyone able to help me trace my Mum's old school? I am looking for any information, a photo would be wonderful! She went to Rothesay House School ,Frenchay Rd, off the Woodstock Rd, Oxford. She attended in the late 1940's to the early 1950's. It was a private school and she was a boarder. I have only found one piece of info on the net regarding an ex teacher who was a poet. If anyone can suggest anything or direct me to somewhere I'd be very grateful.

Can anyone help?
My 2x great grandmother was Catherine Organ (she married my 2x great grandfather Robert George Osborne 24.9.1866 in India, he was in the 91st Highlanders, she was a widow and Organ is her surname from her first marriage)

Catherine Organ already had a child, Ada Alice.E.Organ when she married Robert.
I have 2 lots of information regarding Ada's birth from the GRO Regimental Birth Indices:

1. ORGAN ADA E
Place: Sealkote
Date: 1865
Regt: 91st
Vol:97 Page:31

2. ORGAN ADA A.E
Place:Sealcote
Date:1865
Regt:AH & M Corps
Vol 620 page 90

What I need help with is:

1. Who was Mr Organ to whom Catherine was married, and the father of Ada. I assume from the above information that he was a soldier in the 91st Argylshire Highlanders and was in Sealcote when Ada was born?


2. Can anyone suggest where I can check records for him, I'm hoping Organ is an inusual enough surname, as I don't have his first name. I'd like to trace his marriage to Catherine, and his death.

Hi,

This is linked to the George family that Rootschatters helped with some time ago. It was completed at the time, but I've come back and need more help going forward, so hope this request is in the right place.

In 1881 Sarah George is listed as widowed (can't find husband James Benjamin George's death) aged 49 born Kidderminster. She is living with 2 daughters, Alice aged 15 and  Minnie aged 14, both born St Pancras. Minnie is my great grandmother, she married William Henry Sear (sometimes he's Thomas Sear!) in 1884.

What I'd like to try to find out is where Sarah George was in 1891. Can anyone help me with this?

Can anyone help me find my great grandma's brother?

He is Thomas Todd b c1865 Marylebone, Middx. He is with the family in the 1881 census, details are:

6 Grove Rd, Edmonton, Middx

Parents: Thomas Todd and wife Isabella

Children: Thomas jnr aged 16, Drapers Apprentice
                Isabella 14 (she went on to marry and I have her details all traced)
                Annie 10 (my great grandma)


In 1891 the family are still at the same address, Thomas snr is widowed, daughter Isabella is still there, and a couple of young relations, but no Thomas jnr.

I was told that my great grandma Annie Todd was an only child. Her sister Isabella died young, after marrying and having two children, and Thomas has dissapeared after the 1881 census....did he die, move abroad......is this why the family think Annie was an only child.

Can anyone help me trace Thomas after 1881?

I have just received a copy of the 1911 census seeing my elusive Grandmother for the first time, and note the column relating to infirmaty is blocked out. Can anyone explain why? Is it because 100 years has not actually yet passed?

In the 1841 census I have the following family:

PLOUGH INN, SOUTH PLACE, KINGSTON, SURREY

Thomas Wales age 30 born Surrey. Occ Victualler
Frances Wales age 25 born Surrey
Thomas Wales age 5 born Surrey
Edwin Wales age 4 born Surrey
John Wa;es age 2 born Surrey
Emma Audley age 15 born Surrey
Martin goodson age 30 not born in Surrey
Alfred Rogers age 25 not born in Surrey

Alfred Rogers is an ancestor and was born in Fulham, Middx. He married Emma Audley in Ham 1846. Her father is given as William Audley, a Land Surveyor, deceased. One of the witnesses was Alice Audley. Sadly I can't make out the other one.

I am wondering if Thomas Wales wife is related to Emma, was she an Audley before marriage? Is that why Emma was living with them? I do have Alfred and Emma in 1851 and beyond, but wonder if anyone can trace this Wales family in 1851 for me. Hopefully it will give a birthplace for Frances Wales which might help me find out if there is a connection to Emma or Alice Audley.

I have an Alfred Rogers b c1818 Fulham, Middx who was a tailor in the 1841/51 census. In 1841 he was living with the Wales family, along with his future wife Emma Audley. The Wales family lived in Kingston, Surrey at that time.
Alfred Rogers and Emma Audley married 4.8.1846 at the Church of Ham. Addresses for bride and groom is just given as "Ham".
Alfred's father is given as John Rogers, desceased, occupation tailor.

Is there any chance that John could be traced on the 1841 census from this minute information, assuming of course he was alive at that time?

Herefordshire Lookup Requests / Does anyone know where Rosedale Terrace, Ross-On-Wye was?

Just discovered that when my Nan was christened on 5.7.1909 in Ross-on-Wye, that the family lived at 12, Rosedale Terrace in the town. Does anyone know where this was, as I can't find it anywhere?

 (The family lived at 31 Over Ross st in Ross previous to Nan's christening and again with later children)

If you can solve this mystery I'd be very pleased.
