Australia / Brickwall - Alfred Ernest Rowe.
« on: Tuesday 09 July 13 06:05 BST (UK)  »
Alfred Ernest Rowe poss birth 1881/82 not sure where  ??? Another tree on Anc***** had him born in Adelaide, but I have dismissed this as found a death for same.
These are the facts I have..
He married Alice Maude Emily Cochran in 1906 at Walgett N.S.W. (have all the details on Alice Maud)
His children were Alice I A 1907 Walgett. Alfred Ernest James 1909. Emily M 1910. Charles W.T. 1914-1995.
Have tracked him through the Electoral Rolls from 1921 to 1936 he is listed at Walgett Occ Grazier,
Last entry I can find is for 1943 at Coonabarabran (Purlewaugh) so he possibly died after 1943  ??? problem is I can find no death (have been through miles of records and no dice) so here I am with no place of birth and no place of death  ::) know he is not connected to the Victorian branch of the Rowe family or the S.A. records.  I am doing this research for a friend and have been going great guns except for his grandfather Alfred Ernest..... now I am well and truly stuck..can anyone please help it would be so much appreciated...even picked up on Police Gazette where he pinched a horse  ;D later acquitted ..all this stuff and I dont know where he came from or where he went..excuse me rambling but have been on the computer all day and am a bit square eyed..

New Zealand Completed Requests / Looking for "Charlie"
« on: Saturday 29 June 13 06:35 BST (UK)  »
Charles Allen Firth, born Pilliga N.S.W.
Not much info about Charlie and am not even sure of his date of birth, the only records we have are ...
Private in the Otago Infantry Battalion D Company..
11263 Firth Charles Allen.  Occupation shearer. Next of Kin Mrs Maggie Firth (mother) Pilliga. N.S.W.
We also have a casualty form - active service which reads as follows.

Regiment D Coy 12th Rfts
Reg nbr 8/4329 (then in pencil alongside 11263) Rank Pvt Name - Firth Charles Allen
Enlisted 13.1.16 Terms of service - 13.1.16 Service reckons from 13.1.16

1/5/16 Embarked on Ulimaroa. Wellington N.Z. 1/5/16 to Suez
Then to Tel-el-Kehr 17.7.16
Record goes through various stages  and he ends up with renal colic at Heliopolis 19/5/19

Problem is  ??? we have no idea what happened to Charlie after this...is it likely he would have been de-mobbed in N.Z. if so would there be a record of his return to Australia..we have no idea, we do know he was of Aboriginal extraction and he had gone to N.Z. shearing ? after that..NOTHING
Can anyone help with this please as I am at an absolute loss on this one.
All help much appreciated.
I am doing this for a friend and he has provided me with what he knows..not much....he has records of other relatives who also fought in the 14-18 war, one being noted as the first aboriginal killed in that conflict...trying to fill in gaps on his family tree.

Thanks for any help

Lancashire / Have I muddled things up or what?
« on: Tuesday 12 February 13 22:23 GMT (UK)  »
On the 1871 census my G/Father x3 Joseph Mitchel dob 1797 pob Spotland Lancs, is living with his daughter Ann dob 1827?? pob Clitheroe?? and her husband Simeon Welch dob 1827 pob Streets Gate Lancs tgheir son Joseph dob 1857 Norwich...Simeon and Ann are both Schoolteachers and all are living in Padisham (looks like) St, Habergham Eaves. Consequently Joseph snr dies 1877 Apr qtr vol 8e page 196 reg Clitheroe.  So backtracking on Welch family ..and this is where I run into problems...

1861 Census - Simeon Welch and Ann and Joseph are lodging at Parsonage Habergham Eaves with the Mitchell family (can find no connection to mine) Joseph Mitchel dob 1817 pob Bicchen ?? House Lancs plus wife Margaret born 1819 at Rimmington Yorks. Both Simeon and Ann listed as schoolteachers, only this time Ann is listed as born 1827 and supposedly born BRADFORD W. Yorks ??.

I have the marriage of Ann Mitchel and Simeon Welch Apr qtr vol 8c page 355 Bolton Lancs.
1854.

1851 census - Ann Mitchel dau of Joseph, dob for Joseph 1794.. her birthplace Bolton and dob 1832??

Have them (I think) on the 1881 ar Clithroe ..Simeon now a book keeper at paperworks, no occ for Ann.  1891 still at Clitheroe, living on own means.  and Simeon dies Jul 1891 Clitheroe.  There is a will for a Simeon Welch 144 Woone Lane Clitheroe died 31 Sep 1891 who is a Tea dealer and hawker, a sum of 128 pounds 17s and 2p left to Ann Welch of the same adds.

My problem is so where/when did Ann Mitchel born 1831/32 Bolton le Moors become Ann Mitchel born 1827 Bradford....or have I just made a mess of the whole blasted thing.

HELP NEEDED PLEASE..

All the best Patvp
