Hello Again,

In my previous posting I explained how Willian Penman born at Dunfermline in 1632 married Lilias Kedglie on the 21st June,1655 at Dunfermline. One of their children was Robert Penman who was christened on the 23rd May, 1669 at Dunfermline. (I believe tht he had a sister commonly called "Bessie" who was born a couple of years later on 12th August, 1671).

Robert Penman married Isobel BAXTER, a young lady from Auchterderran, (only a short distance from Kirkcaldy on the Firth of Forth). The marriage took place on the 23rd July, 1687. Now, alhough I have spent some time researching this family, I think it's pretty clear that I haven't shown all of their children on the following list. What I would be grateful for, is a bit of work on your part in adding other members of the family to the list and informing us on RootsChat in order for us to have an accurate record. What I did was to ensure that two of the children, Henry and Robert are shown because they will form a crucial part of my postings. I don't believe that Robert and Isabel started their family six years after their marriage - but of course I could be wrong!

William Penman christened 23rd October, 1693 at Dunfermline, Fife.
Henry Penman christened 25th April, 1696 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Isobel Penman christened 12th January, 1701 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Robert Penman christened 17th January, 1703 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Jean Penman christened 24th June, 1705 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Janet Penman christened 29th June, 1708 at Auchterderran, Fife.

There you see the "migration" from Dunfermline to Auchterderran.

Before commencing my next posting, I took a rather deeper breath than usual when I saw who Henry Penman married. I had to take my spec's off, give them a good rub, and have a closer look. Was I going to see a connection to "Beans" family, the Drylie's, or was I looking at a misspelling?

I'm going to leave that to you, my friends, because I have enough work on my plate before getting back onto the Drylie's!

Kind Regards,

Tom.

Hello again,

In my previous posting I spoke of Henry PENMAN, christened in April, 1696 at Auchterderran in Fife. His parents were Robert PENMAN and Isobel BAXTER.

We find tht Henry married Christian Dryelly on the 11th June, 1737 at Dunfermline. Now, perhaps "Beans" can tell me if I'm wrong, but isn't Dunfermline part of the DRYLIE stronghold? Could this be "a phonetic thing" or merely a transcription error?

Christian Dryelly was born on the 7th July, 1717 in Auchterderran  and was the daughter of John DRYELLY and Christian STEVENSON. Does this ring any bells, "Beans"? I would think that it's worth more than a passing glance.

Henry and Christian had the following children:

James Penman born 27th May, 1739 at Auchterderran, Fife.
David Penman born 21st June, 1741 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Robert Penman born 26th July, 1744 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Alexander Penman born 12th April, 1747 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Andrew Penman born 26th February, 1749 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Jean Penman born 26th November, 1752 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Gilbert Penman born 9th June, 1754 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Margaret Penman born 18th January, 1756 at Auchterderran, Fife.
John Penman born 28th May, 1758 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Betty Penman born 27th August, 1761 at Auchterderran, Fife.
Charles Penman born 20th March, 1763 at Auchterderran, Fife.

In my next posting I shall be taking a look at Robert Penman the brother of Henry Penman, both sons of Robert Penman and his wife Isobel Baxter.

Kind regards,

Tom.

hi everybody i do not know if this is a transcription thing or just the way drylie started out being spelled yes tom these are connected to drylie.  the elizabeth in sanctis post is christians sister.  john dryelly and christian stevenson had 11 children if all of the bessies are correct.     john is the son of william dryelly and bessie stevenson.  i couldnt find a connection between bessie and christian although there probably is one   beans

Hello "Beans",

Well, what do you know. I thought that the spelling was probably another variation and delighted to hear that they were part of your Family Tree. It's truly amazing what I'm turning up as I go through these families. More and more researchers are coming on board and bringing their histories with them, and that's great stuff because it's helping me enormously to connect many families to each other.

I am constantly taking a look at what information you gave me initially, and, as you can see, targetting specific areas such as Dunfermline and Dalgety. I will continue to do that and by doing it, you will, (I hope), be able to do a bit more "matching".

Kind regards,

Tom.
