Is it possible that someone could help me find the location of Margrave Place, Bermondsey in 1914? I have a copy of the Ordnance Survey Map of Bermondsey & Wapping for that period, but search as I might I can't find it. My grandfather gave it as his place of residence in the 1911 Census.

Try Bermondsey Library - they may have some books on the locality.

Hi

I have looked on the 1881 census and couldnt find it. It was probably built after this date. I have googled the name and nothing has come up.

Hi Abie

There is an Old Ordnance Survey map of Bermondsey & Wapping 1914. The ISBN number is 9780850549225, hopefully this will help the library track it down for you.

Found this link but unfortunately it doesn't show anything http://www.mapsworldwide.com/sku_1225.htm

I couldn't find it in Philips' Handy Volume Atlas of London (no publication date, but with a flyleaf insciption dated 1922), Gall and Inglis Map and Guide to London ( no publication date, but looks c1900 to me) or in the Street Index to the Post Office Directory of London 1910 (Historical Directories website).

When the RG78 Enumerators Summary Books go online (promised any time now), you will be able to get a better idea of the location. My guess is that it is an unofficial name for part of a longer street.
