I have emailed Ainon Baptist Chapel to ask about their Registers, no reply as yet.
I have recd a reply from Glamorgan Archives in Cardiff... I will copy their reply in full as it may well be useful to others to have the info...
""Thank you for your email received on the 23rd August.
We hold a number of parish registers at Glamorgan Archives. A full list is available on our website at
http://www.glamro.gov.uk/adobe/parish.pdf.
Please note that the registration districts for births, marriages and deaths are not the same as the parishes. Pontypridd registration district covered a fairly large area of Glamorgan, so while it is possible that any baptisms would have been performed in the parish of Pontypridd, they might also have been in a number of other parishes in the district. As many of our parishes registers have not been indexed past the mid 19th century, this might ensure a length search.
In addition, if you think that the family were Baptists, it is unlikely that any of their baptisms will appear in parish registers, as these cover Anglican (Church of Wales) churches only. Any non-Conformist ceremonies will be recorded in the registers of each individual church or chapel. We have a number of non-Conformist registers, a list of which is available on our website at
http://www.glamro.gov.uk/adobe/noncon.pdf. However, compared with parish registers, only a selection of non-Conformist registers have been deposited with us. You can see that the only records we hold for Ainon Baptist Chapel in Tongwynlais is a Memorial Inscription Index.
If you would like to visit the Archives to use any of these resources, details of our opening times and location can be found on our website. If you have not visited us before you will be required to register; for this we ask you bring along proof of your name and address.
Alternatively, if you are unable to visit the office in person, staff at Glamorgan Archives would be happy to carry out research on your behalf; for which we make a charge of £20 for up to one hour’s work, payable in advance.
The following are accepted payment methods:
Cheque, in sterling and drawn on a British bank, made payable to Cardiff Council
International Money Order
Postal Order
We are currently unable to accept payment by credit/debit card.
Please also bear in mind that both parish and non-Conformist registers only record baptisms/christenings and not births. Therefore it is possible that none of the Morgan’s will appear in any of our records. You may prefer to pick one of the children and order a copy of their birth certificate from either the General Register Office (via
www.gro.gov.uk) , or from Pontypridd Register Office with the details you have found from Free BMD, as this will give you the same information (and often more) as a parish register.
We hope this information is of use to you.
Yours sincerely,
