John ?

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/J7KZ-XP2

Do you know how long I've searched for this!!  I've typed his name in Family Search many times and haven't come up with this info!

And Hamilton too, nice catch!  And I see you now have George also.  I really need to start thinking outside the box!  I obviously also need to have another look at those St Andrew BT's. as well.

Thanks,
Brenda

Northumberland / Newcastle Parishes Map

Does anyone have any idea of how the parishes of Newcastle connect to each other?  I have a family of Embleton's that I'm trying to trace the early baptisms of around Newcastle.

I have:
Henry Embleton bn c1803 in Morpeth (according to census data) who married Mable Lumsdon of Warkworth (bn 1809) at St Johns in Newcastle 1 May 1831.

From 1842 their children are all baptised at St Andrew, but there are three earlier children that I'm trying to trace the baptisms for.  They weren't baptised at St Andrew and I'm looking at St John again in case I missed them.... but what other parishes should I look at?  I can see on Family Search that there are a number of Newcastle parishes but I don't know where they are within the city in relation to St Andrew and St John.

The poeple I'd like to find baptism records for are:

John Embleton c1833
George Embleton c1836
Elizabeth Embleton c1838

On the census when they're still at home their birthplace is listed as Newcastle.

Thanks
Brenda

One other thing I did find was the burial of a Jane Bewick, wife of Anthony of Backwith, buried 25 April 1771, hopefully this is the wife of my earliest Andrew Bewick bn c1720.

It seems that this Anthony Bewick was married at Earsdon on 18 October 1762 to Jane Crowther.  This was on the IGI, the BT's only show baptisms and burials for 1762 so there is no more info to be gleaned from there.  Is this a second marriage for my Anthony, or is it another Anthony Bewick entirely!  The only thing I seem to be coming up with for this line is more questions!

Marjery daughter of Timothy Duxfield,
burial St Albans Earsdon,
10th April 1769 ,
of West Newsham

Margaret daughter of Timothy Duxfield and Jane ,father a farmer of Newsham ,baptised June 29th
1777,

Andrew son of Andrew and Eleanor Bewick, labourer
buried St Albans 22nd September 1776
Andrew son of Andrew and Eleanor Bewick of baptism,22nd of March 1778,of Burrowton

The two Andrew's of Andrew and Eleanor Bewick are definitely mine and I can confirm the baptism and death info provided.

Mary Bewick married Timothy Duxfield in Earsdon on 24 Nov 1767.  They had two children that I know of both in Earsdon, George bap 30 Oct 1768 and Jane bap 22 July 1770 (of The Waggonway House in the BT).

The Duxfield family look quite established in this Parish looking at the IGI batches and the BT's too, there are a number of other births to male Duxfields.  There is a Marjery Duxfield, dau of Timothy of West Newsham, being burried on 10 April 1764 in Earsdon according to the BT. I can't find your reference to the one buried on the same day in 1769 though.

The marriage of Timothy Duxfield and Elizabeth Maughlin took place in Earsdon on 20 June 1776, they had children baptised in Earsdon, one of which they named Margery.  I don't know if this is the same Timothy who had married Mary Bewick or buried the other Marjery Duxfield in 1764, but I haven't come across a death for Mary in the BT's yet.

One other thing I did find was the burial of a Jane Bewick, wife of Anthony of Backwith, buried 25 April 1771, hopefully this is the wife of my earliest Andrew Bewick bn c1720.

Oh boy!  I don't know how these replies slipped by as I usually look at the "Show new replies to your posts" link at the top of the page on each visit.  Radcliff, please accept my apologies, I don't normally blow off people who are trying to help me!  I'll have a look at the info you provided and also my tree (right now!) and I'll get back to you!

Alan - Was your Bewick family in the Earsdon area, or at least in Northumberland somewhere?

Durham / Re: Charles Henderson and Wife Ann ??, Lanchester c1770
« on: Friday 17 August 12 18:44 BST (UK)  »
Thanks everyone for checking the records for me.  I always forget about FreeReg, should have checked that myself.  I looked through all the Lanchester Henderson baptisms for that period and there seem to be three distinct lines, two of them have weaver for the father's occupation so I wonder if they're a family group.  The Scottish connection is interesting as my Ann Henderson married a Scotsman, as did their daughter, I thought it was a coincidence but perhaps not.

Cheers

Durham / Charles Henderson and Wife Ann ??, Lanchester c1770
« on: Tuesday 14 August 12 20:14 BST (UK)  »
Is there anyone who might have access to the records for Lanchester for this early period?  I have an Ann Henderson, father Charles, mother Ann who was born in Lanchester in the early 1780's.  I found these other possible siblings for her, all born Lanchester to a Charles and Ann Henderson, but I can't turn up a marriage in the IGI batches for this couple.

Ann Henderson      10 Oct 1773
George Henderson   15 Oct 1775
Hannah Henderson   28 Dec 1777
Abraham Henderson    26 Mar 1780
Ann Henderson      14 Sep 1783
James Henderson   3 Sep 1786

Can anyone help with who Charles Henderson married, and when/where?

TIA!

Thanks for all that extra info.  I'll see if I can find anything on the marriage in Coton but it does look promising!

Carole - I had my wires crossed!  Rebecca Butler died 16 August 1869, not 1871!  :-[  She definitely won't be in the 1871 census!  Witnesses to her marriage were William Butler and William Stevens.

Thanks so much for that, so at least I know now that there was a Rebecca chr in Duxford at the correct time.  I can see George & Esther on the CFHS with more children, but that's from 1801 onwards.
