I know  ??? She is in 1841 census with the family;

More to ponder ...

But would they say she was aged 7 in 1841?  Does this mean that the HOOTONs went to Spalding.  Then there's the mother's name - WOOD - and Mary WISHLADE aka WOODS who married Edward HOOTON in 1862.

What happened to Mary HOOTON?

9 Green Lane Spalding

Mary Wishlade head single 91 yrs living on own means b Sussex Eastbourne
Mary E Wishlade grandaughter single 26 yrs b Lincs Old Leake

this links this Mary Wishlade with John and family.

1891 she is alone

1881 as Mary Wishlroe she is a retired servant nurse and is unmarried.

BUT there is a link to those children and in a way with those two marriages in St Pancras.

apologies - I'm back.

Not too sure now what we have/have not

1841 HO107; Piece 606; Book: 14;   Folio: 13; Page: 21
Mary Wishlade is with the Walthams.

Frances is in workhouse - where is John?

Another idea- get the marriage certificate for Frances - check re father's name.

Geoff and Tricia,

two things:
somewhere you posted a marriage re John Wishlade Hooton (1845?) and Trisha thought that it was too early for Mary's son.
However 1841 Edward and Mary Hooton have a 15 yr old John.

re Selena Hooten (IGI) - looked at 1880 USA for a Selena born 1831 England living in Michigan- would you believe the 2nd one is in the same place as the cemetery mentioned in IGI  :D  Selena Kerman.

Free BMD marriage 1852 Selen Hooten and John Kerman  :D

Now just how that helps or influences this ...

Hi heywood

I'm glad you found Selena in the US - age of eldest child shows they left Lincs before 1861.

John W HOOTON married Jane WENHAM - I don't know what happened to them ... wait -

John and Jane WISHLEAD in 1851 - 3 kids at home and another next door with WHINHAMs.  I can't see them after that.
