Hi Michelle,
I am looking for the death of Janet Dunlop, James’ wife too. Have you had any luck in finding it? I am descended from their daughter Annie.
Thanks,
Michelle

Janet is on the 1851 census as Fanet Dunlop (aged 42)
The census index at
www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
and the transcription at FindMyPast both have her as Janet.
Did you get them both to correct it, or were you using a different (inferior) transcription?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Yes, I have her until the 1851 Census and then her husband, James, is listed as widowed on his death registration in 1861.
Thanks,
Michelle
