Hall House Pytchley 1822
« on: Tuesday 02 August 22 13:08 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find out any information about Hall House Pytchley in the 1820s. I am researching William Raggett and have found reference to him in Northamptonshire Archives and Heritage:
Northamptonshire County Council Archives and Heritage
•
•   Scrapbook of William Horner of Broughton consisting of newspapers mostly of 1834

177-188 Notice of auction under a distress for rent of the furniture of Samuel Eaton at Broughton in October 1831; notice of the reprint of the Northampton Mercury containing a report of the proceedings at the nomination of two members of the Southern Division of the county (December 1832), notice of auction of livestock at the Hall House, Pytchley, occupied by William Raggett in July 1822, poster advertising auction of furniture (listed with lot numbers) at the Green Dragon, Broughton, by P. Warren in July 1834,

Any information re Hall House or william raggett mentioned in 1822 would be wonderful.
Thank you.
I have william raggett in the Pytchley area around that time, married to Anne and with 5 children at least, baptised in Pytchley between 1816 and 1823 but it is his involvement and location with Hall House which is of interest.
Thank you

The children baptized at Pytchley all have father William as an Inn Keeper

1841 he is back in London with his family listed as a Hotel Keeper on Dover Street

Is this the advertisement you already have?
Saturday,  July 20, 1822
Publication: Northampton Mercury

Oh, I can't attach on a Lookup request board ... an Auction on the premises in the occupation of William RAGGETT of the Hall House. Lots of livestock etc and a malt mill amongst various other things.

Here is The Green Dragon Inn:

But I haven’t located Hall House yet. :) (of course this is a later map, and it may not be marked - not many houses are)

I wonder if Hall House is associated with Pytchley Hall? Some information about it here:

Thank you all for your help so far! This is so kind. The essence of my research is to trace William Raggett who declares he is an innkeeper in the earlier baptisms of his children in Pytchley but then later clearly becomes involved with The Hall House as tenant/land agent maybe?
His children are baptised in pytchley from 1811 to 1827- was the Hall House used as an inn? Are there any other references to William Raggett mentioned anywhere else in the Pytchley area? I have reason to believe that by 1830 he and the family had moved to London to manage a hotel as a tenant manager.  I have emailed the Northampton Heritage service but no response as yet.
Any help really appreciated as this is a knotty one to untangle!

Thank you x yes this is what i have and am trying to build a picture to confirm dover street fire is the same william raggett from pytchley and also yrying to work backwards as to where william came from originally as i suspect he did not originate from northants- so that is why i am trying to work out ehete he was an innkeeper in pytchley and when his association or link with hall house began xxx hope this makes sense!!! It is his link with northants and a time frame that i am trying to establish.
